Youtube

  •  Youtube's goal is to keep people on their site as long as they possibly can. Hence they love videos that rack up lots of watch time. So, publish long (10-20) minute videos.
  • Cut out the useless stuff from the intros, as the first 15 seconds are the key for user retention.
  • People watch till the end when we use PATTERN INTERRUPTS (graphics, animations, sound effects, memes, etc.)
Video Thumbnail
  • Use BOGY (Blue, Orange, Green, Yellow) colors in your Thumbnails as they blend in with Youtube very well.
  • 9 out of 10 most viewed videos use a custom thumbnail.
Video Description
  • Youtube's algo know what our videos are about only from the description. So the first few lines of it are super important.
  • You must include your target keyword in the first 1-2 sentences.
  • This is the most efficient description structure:
    • 2 - 3 sentences
    • 150 words (Outline)
    • Links
  • The outline is what someone will get from the video. So get into details here.
  • If you want more subs then add a call-to-action to subscribe in the Links.

Video Title

  • Write Titles designed to maximize CTR (Click Through Rate)
  • Titles should have a clear benefit about the vid.
  •  Try to avoid too much clickbait
Keywords
  • Make a list of seed keywords that describe the broader topic on the channel.
  • You want keywords that get lots of searches and aren't super competitive.
  • Target keywords that already have a video section on google search.
Video Tags
  • Use 2-3 tags that include the target keyword on the video
  • 2 tags that describe your video's topic that isn't in the main keyword.
  • Add 1-2 tags for the seed keyword on your channel.
Promotion
  • Promote your best videos on your channel page.
  • Find a video that someone would want to watch after watching your videos and feature that at the end of the video.
  • Playlists increase the Session Time on the channel so they are really important.
  • When you want to promote the video on other platforms, upload a clip from the video as native video, and add the link to the full video as the first comment.
